Toftlund Sports & Leisure Center

Visualizations: GPP Arkitekter

The new movement center in Toftlund gains a distinctive and sustainable identity through the use of load-bearing glulam structures. The glulam not only ensures a solid and durable construction, but also creates a warm, natural, and welcoming architectural expression that supports the center’s focus on openness and community.

The choice of glulam and other timber solutions, such as wood panels and homogeneous timber facades, significantly contributes to the building’s low CO₂ footprint and long lifespan. At the same time, the large clear spans of the glulam provide optimal conditions for both the multi-purpose hall, the gymnastics hall, and flexible movement environments, where para-sports and universal accessibility are considered from the outset.

Under a single continuous roof, the staggered building volumes are connected into a 360-degree movement center, where the honest expression of the materials, particularly glulam, creates a strong visual link between the outdoors and indoors. The result is a modern, robust, and inclusive gathering place for all of Toftlund, ready to open in the summer of 2026.
