Installation and execution of timber structures

At Woodconstruction, we work with the installation of load-bearing timber structures in CLT, glulam, and timber cassettes.
We are either involved from the beginning, where installation and execution are planned collaboratively and with our professional input, or brought into projects where things have gone off track and there is a need to make it work in practice.
In both cases, the goal is the same: to ensure the structure functions properly on the construction site.
We also work with timber cassettes as part of the building envelope, where a closed shell ensures progress on site and reduces moisture risks.

Installation, adjustments, and problem-solving

We work with the execution of timber structures on construction sites.

This typically includes:

  • installation of load-bearing timber structures
  • planning of installation processes
  • coordination with other trades
  • drilling openings and adjusting elements
  • handling challenges along the way
  • documentation and quality assurance, including DS1140

We are often involved in projects where it is not enough for the solution to work on drawings – it must also work in execution.

When does it create the most value?

It typically creates the most value to involve us when:

  • installation needs to be planned and executed efficiently
  • there are requirements for pace and progress
  • the structure requires coordination between multiple trades
  • there is a need for practical experience with timber construction

In these cases, we work with:

  • detailed solutions
  • execution planning and sequencing
  • moisture strategy
  • crane analysis and lifting instructions
  • call-off planning and installation flow
  • selection of suppliers and collaborations

This helps ensure that the work is aligned and coherent from the outset.

When things don’t go as planned

We are also often involved in projects where challenges have arisen on the construction site.

This may include:

  • elements that do not fit as expected
  • lack of coordination between trades
  • need for drilling openings or adjustments on the spot
  • solutions that do not work in practice

In these situations, the first step is to understand what is happening – and then find a solution that can actually be executed.

Sometimes we resolve it immediately.
Other times, it requires a brief clarification before we can return with the right solution.

Drilling and adjustments in CLT and glulam

Drilling and adjustments in load-bearing timber structures are not just practical tasks.

They are interventions in the structure that require an understanding of both structural integrity and execution.

We assist with:

  • drilling in CLT and glulam
  • on-site adjustment of elements
  • assessment of what is feasible
  • solutions that take the structure into account

The need often arises during the course of a project, where quick action is required.

Our approach

We treat installation as an integrated part of the overall solution.

This means we focus on:

  • buildability
  • tolerances
  • connections
  • execution sequence
  • documentation and quality in execution

We combine design understanding with on-site experience, ensuring that solutions work in practice.

This is something we consistently see as crucial in timber projects.

Shall we take a look at your project?

If you have a project where installation or adjustments are not working as intended, we are happy to start a dialogue. We quickly provide an assessment of what is needed to make it work in practice.
