The Atrium House
Glostrup

An existing commercial building has been transformed into a modern multi-user house with an atrium as the central gathering space and a canteen as the social hub of the building. The glulam structures create a warm contrast to the weight of the concrete, adding both materiality and a contemporary identity to the house.

The atrium functions as a green forest garden, where glulam columns and shutters, hanging gardens, and terrazzo flooring create a sensory environment with daylight, calm, and inspiration. The fully covering skylight brings light and life to the workplaces and strengthens the building’s social community.

Reusing existing structures, preserving materials, and applying climate-friendly solutions significantly reduce the building’s carbon footprint. At the same time, the sustainability of glulam contributes to an architecture that combines robustness and warmth. The result is a flexible and future-proof framework where people meet, share knowledge, and work in a healthy, climate-friendly environment.
