Kjaer & Richter
The extension of Hornslet School was built for Syddjurs Municipality, carried out by Enemærke & Petersen and designed by Kjaer & Richter.
Woodconstruction was responsible for the design, supply, and installation of the glulam structures.
The structure forms part of a hybrid building, in which glulam is integrated into a concrete frame in several areas. The external walls are made of concrete, while the glulam columns and beams remain exposed within the space, creating an interplay between the materials.
This places demands on execution.
The glulam must align with concrete tolerances throughout, and even small deviations can quickly propagate through the structure.
At the same time, the project was carried out while the existing sports hall remained in operation. This placed additional demands on planning, safety, and the handling of deliveries on site.
Our role was to ensure that the structure could be executed accurately and function in practice, both in relation to tolerances and the day-to-day operations surrounding the construction site.
